Text: Ezekiel 16: 1 to 14.
One interesting thing about when we quarrel and fight with each other is
the telling of what we were before we became whatever we are today. If you
are married and you have ever quarreled with your spouse, I am sure you
must have heard the lines: before I met you, you were a nobody. Now that
you are somebody, you think I am nothing. One woman drove her husband’s
car and accidented it. The man said to her, honey, I don’t know why God
made you so beautiful and so dumb. The woman replied, God made me
beautiful so that you can marry me and He made me dumb so that I can marry
you. Wow!
In our text today, God is telling His people how abominable they were
before He walked into their lives. They were so abominable that no one
wanted them. They were born of abominable parents in an abominable land.
At birth, they were so filthy that they were not supple, salted or
swaddled at all. They were so polluted that no one pitied or had
compassion on them until God came to them. There is one thing I have known
about God encounters: no one encounters God and remains the same. You will
never remain the same. What God is made up of will invade your being and
you will become like God. This is what happened to Israel and to every
child of God.
Before we became children of God, we were born in sin of sinful parents in
a sinful environment. We were no good, no righteous and not needed. We
were polluted by sin. Then God came seeking and to save us in the Person
of Jesus Christ. That was His mission on earth: to seek and to save the
lost. Luke 19:10. He found us polluted in our own blood of sin and dying.
In fact, we were dead. Ephesians 2:1. Then He spoke to our being: Live,
yes, I say to you, Live! Those words reverberate in my being as I write
this message. This is the God of the universe speaking into my being. No
matter how dead I am, by this word, I am coming out alive. I see life
flowing into your being by this word right now.
God is saying to you today, Live, yes, I say to you, Live! No matter what
has died in or around you, life is coming again. You died when you were
rejected by your parents, spouse, friends, colleagues, etc. Something in
you died when you lost your job or a contract that you had hoped would
have changed your life. Something in you died when a loved one or a lover
died. Something in you died when someone you trusted cheated on you or
lied to you. But God is saying to you today, Live, yes, I say to you,
Live! He could have said it once but He said it twice. He wants you to
hear it twice. Psalm 62:11. Power is released when you hear it twice. He
is so direct at you when He said, I say to you, Live. Whatever they did to
you that killed you is not important. What is important is what He is
saying to you right now.
The moment you hear this word and come alive, what follows is a coronation
ceremony. Your crowning day begins when you start to live again. From our
text, He cleans you inside and outside. He causes you to multiply and
blossom. He increases you so that you can become great. He puts on you
excellent ornaments. He fashions your breasts and causes your hair to grow
again. Hey girl, you know you are going back to business when your dress
and breasts are up again. You are becoming more attractive again for
someone you were designed to join to. Get ready for your crowning day. I
mean your wedding day. It is coming soon!
Now, you have entered your time of love because of what He is doing in and
around you. Yes, you may have told yourself that you will never fall in
love again. You lied to yourself. In this season and with what He is doing
in and around you, I dare you. You will soon fall in love again. This time
it is for the rest of your life until death do you part. You will enjoy
the rest of your life again. God is washing you inside and outside. He is
anointing you afresh. He is clothing you with the finest of clothing. He
is decking you with ornaments and jewelries of the best quality. Those who
have problems with jewelries just stay away from heaven because has enough
of them. You will have gold and silver. Your wardrobe is changing because
of what He is doing. He is making you beautiful and you shall prosper.
The most important part of what He is doing according to verse 8 is to
enter into a covenant with you so that you will become His. No man invests
in a woman for nothing. God will invest in you because He wants you to be
His. If He can do all these things to you when you are not His, think of
what He will do when you become His. What you have seen is just a
foretaste or a tip of what He has to offer you. So, you have a choice to
yield or not. You can refuse Him and give yourself to others like Israel
did in the later part of our text. He still remains who He is. But I
choose Him. I choose to give Him my covenant bond of partnership. I dare
you today to go all out for Him. Enter into this covenant agreement with
Him today and watch what He will do. You will live in Jesus name. Amen.
